Spectacle! a closer look
NCPC welcomed back London-based Helen Marriage, founding director of the United Kingdom arts charity Artichoke, which produces large-scale, astonishing public art events when she shared stories about these, including PROCESSIONS, a mass participation artwork and tribute to the women’s suffrage movement staged in the UK’s four capital cities this past summer. Helen spoke about how she defines and develops these unique, successful spectacles and their positive impacts on participants and communities.
DC Office of Planning Deputy Director Sakina Khan moderated and provided insight into Washington’s evolving approach to public art.
