Overview
We’re delighted to welcome back London-based Helen Marriage, founding director of the United Kingdom arts charity Artichoke, which produces large-scale, astonishing public art events.
She’ll share stories about these, including PROCESSIONS, a mass participation artwork and tribute to the women’s suffrage movement staged in the UK’s four capital cities this past summer. Helen will talk about how she defines and develops these unique, successful spectacles and their positive impacts on participants and communities.
DC Office of Planning Deputy Director Sakina Khan will moderate and provide insight into Washington’s evolving approach to public art.
Helen presented at NCPC in April 2013. View the video: Shock, Surprise, and Tantalize: Helen Marriage Takes on the Public Realm: https://www.ncpc.gov/videos/245
