6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Location
401 9th Street, NW, Washington, DC
Overview
What planning lessons can we learn from other capitals around the world? NCPC welcomes Malcolm Snow, Chief Executive of Canberra’s National Capital Authority (NCA). Mr. Snow will discuss Canberra’s continuing evolution as a planned capital, how the Griffin Plan has guided the city’s design and development, and will highlight several of the NCA’s current initiatives. He will then join NCPC Executive Director Marcel Acosta in a conversation on the unique challenges and opportunities of planning in a capital city, including commemoration, image and identity, and balancing local and national interests.
The National Capital Authority was established under the Australian Capital Territory (Planning and Land Management) Act 1988. The NCA performs a special role as the trustee of the National Capital and in this capacity serves the interests of the Australian Government, the Australian nation and its people.
