Section 106 Meeting: Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum

Overview

This is a Section 106 Consulting Parties meeting for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum project. The Smithsonian Institution wishes to revitalize the National Air and Space Museum.  Three areas have been identified for this effort:

  1. Replace exterior Tennessee marble façade stone due to failure;
  2. Enhance interior control of environmental conditions as well as enhance visitor experience with the addition of two exterior vestibules: one at the north entrance and one at the south entrance;
  3. Reconfigure the terraces and plantings surrounding the building to improve accessibility.
