Overview
Formal or wild, carefully protected or randomly thriving, nature finds its way into our cities. This event will examine the role of nature in urban design, highlighting projects in Chicago and Louisiana. Topics to be covered include:
- How are communities reinforcing and returning nature back into the city?
- How might urban design respond to nature, particularly in the shape and sensibility of the public realm?
- How this theme has influenced Washington, DC’s design, and current and future directions.
Join us for an exploration of the evolving dialog between community and nature in our cities.
This event will honor NCPC's former Chief Urban Designer Christine Saum, and is sponsored by the National Capital Planning Commission, Loeb Fellowship - Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Mayors' Institute on City Design, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
