NCPC approved final site and building plans for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Currency Production Facility in Beltsville, MD. Commissioners appreciated the improvements made in response to earlier reviews, including an improved employee parking ratio, reduction of vehicle emissions by 27%, and increased tree canopy. Construction of the new facility will begin later in 2023. 

The Commission provided comments on the draft Pentagon Reservation master plan update for the Arlington, Virginia campus. Commissioners supported the update’s goals to improve security, environmental sustainability, and multi-modal access. They encouraged additional efforts to address the history of minority communities displaced by the initial construction, enhanced green space, and consideration of affordable housing opportunities on any future excess land.
