January Meeting RecapNCPC provided comments on concept plans for National Mall and Memorial Parks Telecommunications Infrastructure Improvements. Commissioners recognized the importance of enhancing cellular service while not negatively impacting the unique setting and views.
The Commission approved final site development plans for the Long Bridge Corridor Project – South Section. Part of a larger project, this portion includes a new rail bridge and a combined pedestrian/bicycle bridge that will cross the Potomac River and George Washington Memorial Parkway. Commissioners supported the project’s goals to expand rail capacity and service.
NCPC reviewed concept plans for the National Zoological Park Construct New Arabian Leopard Habitat, which feature a fully enclosed habitat, care facility, and viewing areas. The Commission supported the preferred design and recommended submission of a landscape plan and proposed signage for the next review.
Finally, Commissioners heard an information presentation from White House representatives and the project architect on the East Wing Modernization Project. No action is taken on information presentations. NCPC will formally review the project in the future. |
