May Meeting Recap

NCPC provided feedback to the National Park Service on the concept plan to improve safety and operations for the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway. The Commission supported the plan’s goals to improve multi-modal accessibility and recommended more coordination with stakeholders.

Commissioners gave feedback to the District of Columbia on proposed changes to the Capital One Arena, supported the project’s goals, and recommended continued refinements to unify the design. They also requested a complete lighting plan, daytime street view, and additional details on the pedestrian experience at the next review stage. 

NCPC provided comments to the National Park Service on a concept Civil War Defenses of Washington Management Plan Amendment that provides updated guidance for use of the Fort Circle Parks. The Commission recommended that the amendment identify where connections between the historic sites and surrounding communities could be improved and that the applicant continue to engage with communities to better understand their needs.
