March Meeting Recap

NCPC provided feedback to the National Park Service on the Tidal Basin Development Concept Plan, which includes three alternatives that seek to protect and enhance the popular destination. Commissioners thought that each option had positive components and recommended further refinement and continued public input during the process.

The Commission reviewed the Humphreys Engineer Center Vision Plan and Installation Planning Standards, which will guide future development and modernization of the 583-acre campus in Fairfax County. Commissioners supported the plan’s goals and suggested focusing new development on the campus’ center to help promote walkability.

NCPC provided comments on the Arlington National Cemetery Memorial Avenue Entry Corridor Area Development Plan, which focuses on the cemetery’s main entrance and visitor facilities. Commissioners commended the applicant’s commitment to maintaining the cemetery’s historic character and minimizing pedestrian and vehicular conflicts.
