April Meeting RecapNCPC provided feedback to the National Park Service on the concept master plan to redevelop Poplar Point in Southeast Washington. The plan presented three options that all proposed ways to expand the wetlands, improve shoreline use, and include new memorial sites. Commissioners encouraged development closer to the I-295 corridor and requested more information on how the project will connect to Historic Anacostia.
The Commission approved preliminary and final site development plans submitted by the National Park Service for the Long Bridge Corridor Project-North Section, which will add two tracks and rebuild a pedestrian bridge across Maine Avenue connecting the waterfront with the Portals development in Southwest. Commissioners supported the goal to expand rail capacity and the proposed planting selection, which includes native and non-native vegetation.
NCPC approved preliminary site and building plans submitted by the District of Columbia Department of General Services for the Correctional Treatment Facility Annex that will replace the existing facility in Southeast Washington. Commissioners requested additional renderings to better understand how the buildings will appear in context with their surroundings. |
