May Meeting Recap

The Commission approved the final Navy Yard Southwest Corner Master Plan, which includes several historic buildings and portions of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and piers, as well as proposed private development. Commissioners called for robust engagement with the surrounding communities as more detailed proposals are developed.

Following testimony provided by more than 40 people, NCPC approved preliminary site and building plans to rehabilitate the Rock Creek Park Golf Course and requested that the National Park Service (NPS) coordinate additional public engagement prior to submitting for final review. The Commission supported the project’s goals to address deferred maintenance, broaden community appeal, and achieve financial stability.

NCPC provided comments on concept plans for the National Air and Space Museum Construct Integrated Bezos Learning Center, an 80,000-square foot addition to the museum. Commissioners supported the concept design and found that it reflected the center’s program and mission.
