Description

Commemorates Commodore Perry's historic visit to Japan. These lanterns were used to honor the Shoguns of the Tokughawa period. The Tokughawa period (1603-1867) was the final period of traditional Japan, a time of internal peace, political stability, and economic growth under the shogunate (military dictatorship) founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu.
