Description

Prompted by 2 tragedies in 1918: (1) cutter Seneca lost while attempting to salvage a British steamer that had been torpedoed in the Bay of Biscay; (2) cutter Tampa was sunk by an enemy submarine in the British Channel names of all Coast Guard personnel lost during the Great War are inscribed on the monument.
