Redefining Security a Decade After 9/11

In the decade since the 2001 terrorist attacks, the security of buildings and public spaces has been a major focus in Washington, and is now part of our daily experience.

On September 12, the National Capital Planning Commission and the Department of Commerce will bring together a panel of experts to discuss current and emerging perimeter security practices and effective ways to balance security with good design to enhance the city’s urban fabric.

In preparation for the event, we're asking the public to share examples of what works (or doesn't work) when it comes to security around buildings and public spaces. Images and ideas will be compiled on the agency's website and provide a starting point for the discussion.
