The Trust for the National Mall sponsored the National Mall Design Competition to develop concept proposals for Constitution Gardens, the Washington Monument Ground at Sylvan Theater, and Union Square. On May 3 they announced the winning design concepts:
- Constitution Gardens: Robert Rogers of Rogers Marvel Architects & Adam Greenspan of Peter Walker and Partners
- Union Square: Rodrigo Abela of Gustafson Guthrie Nichol & and Peter Cook of Davis Brody Bond
- The Washington Monument Grounds at Sylvan Theater: Ship Graffam of OLIN & Marion Weiss of Weiss/Manfredi
The winning design concepts are available online.
On Thursday, May 31 representatives from the three winning design teams will outline their bold visions for transforming these iconic locations on the National Mall. The program will be moderated by John Beardsley, Director of Garden and Landscape Studies at Dumbarton Oaks.
The program is presented in partnership with the Trust for the National Mall and the National Building Museum.
