The National Capital Planning Commission and the Smithsonian Institution will co-host a public meeting on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. regarding the Environmental Impact Statement for the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). Information boards about the new museum's design, which is planned for a five-acre site on the National Mall, will be on display during an open house. Members of the public and local and federal agencies will have the opportunity to ask questions following a formal presentation about the plans for the museum.

This is the second public meeting on the construction of the NMAAHC. The first meeting was held November 17, 2010 at the National Museum of American History – Kenneth E. Behring Center.
