|Description of Project
The Department of the Army proposes installation and operation of a combined heat and power cogeneration facility at the Adelphi Laboratory Center (ALC) in Adelphi, Maryland. The facility would be comprised of two generators with heat recovery equipment to capture thermal energy from the engine cooling jackets and engine exhaust.
ALC is located approximately 10 miles north of Washington, DC in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, with the majority of the facilities residing in Montgomery County. The installation occupies 206 acres adjacent to the Hillandale Community, a commercial and residential suburb. The ALC lies within one mile of both Interstate 495 and Interstate 95.
Members of the public as well as local & federal agencies are encouraged to submit written comments.
